Children’s Day is celebrated on 14th November, on the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India. Children’s Day craft activity can involve our dearest, Chacha Nehru. 

Teachers can provide the students with a printout of a rose which they can colour, or they can decorate it with different red colour materials of their choice. 

Paper Rainbows

This is an easy Children’s Day craft idea if you want to do this with your students or at home. Gather these simple materials mentioned above and get crafting! Provide the children with U-shaped rainbow cutouts. 

Instruct them to fill the cutout with coloured paper scraped and strips to make it into a rainbow. Sprinkle some glitter on the top of wet paper scrapes or shreds to make it more exhilarating and appealing. Punch a hole on the top of the rainbow and pass it through with a ribbon to hang it as a Children’s Day decoration for the room.  Make a ton of these beautiful rainbow decorations and make the room sparkle like never before! 

Paper Plate Animals

Another simple yet creative Children’s Day project is to make paper plate animals using plain white paper plates. Choose your favourite animal and outline the plate. Paint the drawing, cut out the nose and ears from coloured sheets and paste them using the glue stick. Don’t forget to add details like cotton if you have chosen to make a sheep and strings for tails and hair. 

These paper plate animals can be made into a mask as well! Cut out the eyes and attach the craft on a stick for easy handling. Make several different animals and hold your puppet show. 

Fire Breathing Dragon

  • Toilet roll /Cardboard roll 
  • Yellow and Orange tissue paper
  • Gluestick
  • Paint of choice
  • Paintbrush 
  • Pom poms
  • Googly eyes 

We have all heard interesting dragon stories when we were kids. It’s time to give the kids something to play with along with the stories. 

This fire-breathing dragon is not as difficult to make as it seems. You just require the materials mentioned above, and let us get started! 

  • Paint the cardboard roll with green paint and set it aside to dry. 
  • Cut out long strips from yellow and orange tissue paper sheets. 
  • Paste the tissue from inside one end of the roll.  
  • Cut the strips to make them of equal length. 
  • Paste the pom poms on the other end of the roll and the smaller one’s on the opposite side. Paste googly eyes on the bigger pom poms. Your dragon is ready! 

Just blow through one side and see the tissue sway like fire!

Handprint Flower

  • Poster Paints 
  • Paint brushes 
  • Glue
  • Scissors 
  • Coloured sheets
  • Plain white sheets
  • Paint palette 

A group of children or the whole class can get involved in this Children’s Day project. Pour different shades of paint in different palettes for easy access.  Get each child to come individually, choose their favourite colour and make a hand print on a plain white sheet. 

The guardian can then cut out each handprint and paste them together in a circular shape to make a floral pattern. Make a stem out of the coloured sheet and attach it to the flower to complete the group effort. This handmade Children’s Day craft idea is ready to decorate the space.
